Turn your basement into a family room, and watch the changes in our family life. The kids will love having a space where they can watch hang out with you, and you’ll love the many options for decorating and personalizing that a family room in the basement can give you. With just a little imaginative basement finishing, and with the help of an experienced basement remodeling contractors, you can turn your formerly dark and gloomy basement into the warm and bright heart of your home.
Make sure to include lots of storage space in your family room to hold books, CDs, magazines and other odds and ends you might need for entertainment. A few photographs or curios will add a personal touch, and give the family room a cheery look. Some comfy couches and a carpet can round off the décor. Your basement remodeling contractor will be able to suggest ideas on keeping unsightly pipes and ductwork out of sight.
Use carpets to hide unseemly bumps or irregularities in the flooring. Make sure there is plenty of storage space and lots of book shelves all around. Hanging lights are an absolute no-no because ceiling height is so limited. Consider recessed lighting that’s fitted into false ceiling to save on space.
Our basement is currently flooded. We intend to waterproof all the basement walls, but now we need the basement to be re-finished as well. We will need some walls moved and flooring added. We may also consider having the attic finished, but that will depend on the price. The basement is 786 sq feet. About 500 sq feet is currently finished (and needs repair).

We have an unfinished basement that we would like to finish with drywall, carpeting to convert into a playroom . Our laundry is also in the basement and we may want to relocate the washer/dryer fixtures.
